Nikon D5 with 20.8 MP FX-Format CMOS Sensor launched

Nikon has released a full-frame flagship camera – the Nikon D5. The impossible has now become possible, says Nikon, as it vouches for major upgrades in sensor design, image processor and an expandable ISO. Every critical moment and detail is captured with a clarity that has never been attainable before, and Nikon assures that photography enthusiasts will experience a change in the way they shoot. Know more about the DSLR’s features and specifications below.

Multi-CAM sensors

The D5 weighs around 575gms and is built with magnesium alloy that is dust and water-resistant. It has an FX-format CMOS image sensor that has a resolution of 20.8-MP and an RGB metering sensor with a resolution of 180K-pixels for accurate subject recognition and image clarity. With richer tonal gradations, your photos will look phenomenal. Moreover, with the 20K AF sensor even small subjects moving at high speed, in the dark are tracked with precision.

Nikon’s powerful processor – EXPEED 5

To harness the power of the CMOS image sensor and RGB metering sensor, the D5 has the EXPEED 5 – an image processor that captures every texture, detail and gradient. Another processor has been added for enhancing auto focus so that you don’t have to compromise image quality when on the go.

12Fps continuous shooting and 14fps in a fixed-focus mode

With a shutter speed of 12fps and a mirror sequencing mechanism that delivers consistent clarity during high-speed captures and 14fps in focus mode, the D5 does not compromise no matter how fast the subject in real-time is. Paired with a NIKKOR lens whose highlight is the SPORT VR mode, the D5 delivers a stable viewfinder image and tracks high-speed movement with smooth precision.

4K UHD Video

Increase your moviemaking abilities with the D5’s 4K Ultra-HD video feature. Videos of 3840×2160 pixels can be recorded at 30p/25p/24p with a dot-by-dot readout, which ensures stunning video quality. Shooting in Full HD (1080p) video allows you to record up to a speed of 50p/60ps even during time-lapse videos. There’s also a built-in stereo for audio recording.

Wide ISO range

The D5 has an ISO range that starts from 102400 and goes up to 3,280,000 so that you don’t have to worry about shooting in low light environments. There are upgrades even in the capacity of noise reduction and colour fidelity that allows exceptionally wide area coverage. Nikon also states that the D5 is especially useful for surveillance and security applications, among other night panoramas as crisp images can be captured even without a flash.

The Nikon D5 is priced at Rs.2,69, 999 – a hefty sum but value for money.
