OLA S1 Air – Price, Specifications & More

On October 22, 2022, Ola Electric, a subsidiary of Ola, launched S1 Air, a series of two-wheelers electric vehicles (EV) at an introductory price of Rs 84,999 (Ex-showroom price). People can book the EV from the official website by paying Rs 999. Ola will start delivering Ola S1 Air electric scooter by April 2023. S1 Air will have a real-life range of 100 kilometres on a full charge. However, the payment window for Ola Air will only start by February 2023.

Compared to its costlier S1 and S1 Pro siblings, S1 Air has more basic underpinnings and fewer ride modes. There are three riding modes available on the S1 Air—Eco, Normal, and Sports. It claims a range of 101 kilometres in Eco mode.

Despite being affordable, Ola does not compromise on providing users with a fully loaded vehicle.

Ola S1 Air Available Variants

Ola’s S1 Air is based on the S1 platform, but its powertrain and battery pack have been re-engineered.

There are only five colours and one variant available. The Ola S1 Air electric scooter features both front and rear drum brakes.

Among Ola’s electric scooters, the S1 Air is the most affordable.

Ola S1 Air looks identical to the other two variants. In addition to twin projector headlamps, curvy body panels, a single-piece seat, and mirrors, it has the same body design. While the Air lacks a flat footboard like the other models, it comes with extra storage space that adds to its usability.

Ola S1 Air Specifications

Besides the telescopic front fork, Ola S1 Air features twin rear shock absorbers and drum brakes at both ends. S1 Air weighs 99 kg, much lighter than Ola S1 Pro, which weighs 125 kg.

S1 Air has a redesigned seat with a more basic single-piece tubular grab handle. Compared to its costlier siblings, Ola S1 Air features a smaller storage capacity of 34 litres. It has a flat floorboard, so it is easier to transport luggage around than the other two e-scooters with curved floors.

In terms of technology, S1 Air has a 7-inch touchscreen TFT display like its siblings and the capability to reverse the display.

S1 Air comes with MoveOS 3.0 software as standard, which enables hill-hold functionality, moods, profiles, and proximity alerts without requiring passcode sharing. Delivery is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2023, according to Ola.

Ola S1 Air Range

Powered by a 2.5 kWh battery pack, Ola S1 Air can be charged from 0 to 100 per cent in 4 hours and 30 minutes, owing to a 4.5 kW hub motor. This results in Ola S1 Air’s top speed of 85 kph and a range of 101 km in Eco mode.

Ola S1 Air Design

The Ola S1 Air scooter has a black body and tail, a flat floorboard, a tubular grab rail, and a small battery pack. This scooter has its own design features but will be smaller than the Ola S1 and S1 Pro e-scooters. Additionally, it comes with a single-piece seat.

Ola S1 Air Suspension

A conventional telescopic fork at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear provide the suspension for Ola S1 Air electric scooter. In contrast to Ola S1 and S1 Pro, S1 Air has steel wheels and drum brakes on the front and rear.

Ola S1 Air Upgrades

Delivery of Ola S1 Pro started in December 2021. Soon, the company received backlash over quality control issues, with one scooter catching fire in March 2022. The company launched the Ola S1 on August 15 to address declining sales of the S1 Pro. Since December, several software updates have been released to fix bugs, experience centres have been set up, and they have offered heavy discounts during the holiday season.

Conclusion

With the Air, people can get better value and performance at a lower price, but they lose a few features. This means the lower price is a better option for those who do not require the extra performance. It also increases competition for petrol scooters. People must decide whether to spend more on S1 or save for S1 Air based on their priorities. If someone prefers a scooter with great mileage and looks that stand out, they should go with the lower-priced Ola S1 Air.
